In 2015, The Fred Hollows Foundation is forging a new path in Asia, with Goodman as the Founding Partner of The Fred Hollows Foundation Hong Kong.
Established in 1992, The Fred Hollows Foundation is a leading Australian-based NGO, inspired by the work of the late Professor Fred Hollows (1929-1993).
Fred was an eye doctor, renowned surgeon and social justice activist. Fred was committed to improving the health of Indigenous Australians and delivering sight-saving programs in developing countries to end avoidable blindness. The Foundation continues to keep Fred’s dream alive by expanding on the work he began in Eritrea, Vietnam and Australia. The Fred Hollows Foundation now works in over 25 countries across Asia and Africa, where they have restored sight to over two million people.
Goodman is supporting The Fred Hollows Foundation Hong Kong by offering practical assistance with the provision of office space for its team of four, here in our very own office at Three Pacific Place. From here they will launch their regional office in Hong Kong and will lead their advocacy and fundraising efforts to support urgent program work in the Greater China and Asia region – where 31% of the world’s blind live - 20% in China.
We hope to be involved with their efforts as they look to expand their work through Greater China.
