was established in 2012 to provide food rescue services to Dunedin City. They identify sources of available excess fresh and frozen food from donor businesses and redistribute it to people in need via other social service agencies. FoodShare target the twin goals of feeding the hungry and reducing food wastage.
Foodshare won the Health and Wellbeing category of the NZ Trustpower community awards in Dunedin in 2014.
Goodman Foundation has partnered with Foodshare to expand their operations into Auckland city in 2014.
The Goodman Foundation’s support will cover all set up costs as well as a significant portion of operational costs for the first few years. This exciting partnership is filling a need in New Zealand’s biggest city and will make a significant difference to less privileged communities, particularly in the South Auckland region where it is planned to set up the operations in 2014.
Goodman is identifying a facility for Foodshare to operate from, as relationships and equipment are being sourced.
