Goodman to cross the three million sqm milestone in Germany

Thursday, 7 May 2015

Goodman is developing a 28,000 sqm logistics property for eBay Enterprise, a subsidiary of eBay Inc., on a recently purchased plot in Star Park Halle, in the Leipzig-Halle region of Germany. Goodman is making a multi-million euro investment into this project scheduled for completion in mid-2015. Upon completion, Goodman will manage over 900,000 sqm of logistics space in Germany for major players in the ecommerce sector.

eBay Enterprise is a leading global supplier of integrated ecommerce solutions for brick and mortar brands and retailers seeking to offer a complete omnichannel shopping experience. The company will use its new facility to expand its service to existing and potential customers, and to complement its existing network.

"Fulfillment remains the linchpin of a successful omnichannel operation and this new facility by Goodman allows us to support our clients" domestic and pan-European fulfillment needs," said Michael Kliger, Vice President International, eBay Enterprise. "We are committed to providing European brands and retailers a localised fulfillment and shipping solution that can offer the scale, reliability, and cost efficiencies they demand for their digital operations on a global level."

The facility benefits from Goodman"s distinctive and extensive experience in designing properties that meet the unique needs associated with ecommerce logistics. The property solution from Goodman offers 26,500 sqm of storage and logistics space, including a flexible mezzanine and strategically designed loading and unloading gates to speed up the handling of goods. An additional 1,500 sqm will be designated for offices and social spaces.

"Ecommerce logistics requires innovative design to help customers efficiently and accurately process, sort and distribute goods," said Jordan Corynen, Goodman Director for Germany. "Goodman is a leader in ecommerce logistics design in Europe and we are distinguished by our property management services, enabling customers to modify and upgrade the property to stay competitive in a fast-moving industry."

Prime logistics location
With the new development in Star Park Halle, Goodman is further reinforcing its presence in the Leipzig-Halle region. The Goodman now manages over 300,000 sqm of modern logistics space in one of Germany"s key logistics locations, representing roughly 10 percent of Goodman"s overall portfolio in Germany.

"We are delighted that eBay Enterprise and Goodman, two companies with great international reputations, haven chosen Halle. The new development is proof of the value Star Park offers as a prime industrial location, particularly for logistics," said Bernd Wiegand, mayor of Halle.

Star Park Halle offers great multimodal connections for short and long distance transport. It is situated directly on the A14 motorway and benefits from excellent railway connections. Furthermore, Leipzig/Halle airport, with two large cargo hubs, is no more than 12 km away.
